2004 LASER 4.7 WORLD & LASER 4.7 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Fraglia della Vela di Riva, Riva del Garda, Italy
17 - 24 July

Day 3

As the Laser 4.7 World Championship progresses the winds have been getting stronger. On Day 3 the wind peaked at 17 knots which was just what home club sailor Anita Di Asio wanted to show the boys the way round the course. In her fleet she scored a second in her first race and then really put on a show to win her second race by over a minute. South African, Aron Larkens, who finished third to Di Asio in both races, commented "she is sailing fast and hiking hard". Di Iasio has score top 3 places in 4 of her six races which places her 9th overall.

With a discard now coming into play there are some place changes in the 276 strong fleet but out in front the positions are unchanged. Justin Onvlee RSA maintains his overall lead by one point from Dany Stansic SLO although he is now sailing under greater pressure having failed to finish his 5th race after his tiller extension became disconnected from his tiller. He bounced back with a first place in his sixth race and has the small comfort that Stansic's sixth race was his worst even if it was an eight!
